"The Visionary"

Reverend Dr. George Crews, III, M.Div. 

Visionary, Builder, Trailblazer, Preacher, Teacher, Prophet, and Pastor are all words that are used to describe Reverend Dr. George Crews, III.  

 

Rev. Dr. George Crews, III was born in Durham, North Carolina to the late George M. Crews, Jr. and Mary B. Crews.  He matriculated through the Durham Public School System and is a graduate of one the last classes of the Mighty Bulldogs of Durham Senior High School. Dr. Crews is a graduate of North Carolina Central University with a BA in Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration.  He received his Masters of Divinity from Apex School of Theology in May 2016, in which he graduated with Presidential Honors.  In May 2022, Dr. Crews received his Doctorate of Ministry from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.

 

Dr. Crews received Christ at an early age under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. W. T. Bigelow and was a member of the Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Durham, North Carolina in which he later received his calling to the preaching ministry under the tutelage of the Rev. Dr. William Hazel Height. Not only is he an outstanding preacher and pulpiteer, Dr. Crews is also an anointed and gifted singer. 

 

Dr. Crews is married to Lady Yvette Michelle Crews. Through this union, they have been blessed with four children, Symone Paige, George Malcolm, IV, Jasmyne Tai`ja and Hezekiah Dallas. 

 

During his ministry journey, Dr. Crews has served as Senior Pastor to the Evans Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Wake Forrest, NC from 1999-2002 and in that short period of time, he accomplished great things for the church and the surrounding community. On January 6, 2002, Pastor Crews was called to Lattisville Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Hurdle Mills, NC and on March 17, 2002, Dr. Crews was installed as Senior Pastor. 

Having served on the Executive Board of Directors for the New Home in Durham Missionary Baptist Association and as a general board member of the General Baptist State Convention, Inc., Dr. Crews' ministry reaches beyond physical touch. He has had the opportunity to preach in different places in the U.S. and abroad in Kenya, Africa. With over 20 years of leadership, dedication and love, he accomplished the building of a multi-million-dollar facility and campus, membership growth, new ministries, and leadership development at Lattisville Grove Missionary Baptist Church. In 2003 and 2004, Dr. Crews and the Lattisville Grove Missionary Baptist Church received Pastor and Church of the Year awarded by the Northern Orange County NAACP.

 

Rev. Dr. Crews wears many hats. He is active in the East Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Association of North Carolina, where he currently serves as Moderator; previously he has served as President of The Ministers, Deacon, & Deaconess Union and first Vice Moderator of the Association. Dr. Crews also sits on the Strategic Planning Board of Justice United of Northern Orange County. He is also a proud member of the Beta Theta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.

 

With all the things that Rev. Dr. Crews has and continues to do within the kingdom of God and within the community, he is still an approachable and on hands preacher, pastor and teacher that loves God’s people. He believes that everybody is somebody special.
